The lantern city (China)

Last weekend, we wanted to see lanterns. We went to Zigong, a city famous for its lantern show. The people here are experts at making lanterns resembling humans, animals, scenic spots, scenes from historical books etc. There is a park near the city centre where they exhibit these lanterns.

Some lantern displays represent current affairs - the evil SARS lantern and the heroic health workers behind. We also spotted Mr. Bush. Representing historical fiction was Wu Song. He appears in two classics  — The outlaw of the Marshes and The Golden Lotus. He is a valiant fighter who kills a Tiger with his bare hands. Later he kills his sister in law (the golden lotus) and her lover after discovering that they poisoned his brother. He escapes justice and becomes an outlaw.

The hotel we stayed at had a dish in its menu called Fried Indian with Rice. I asked Ou to keep a lookout for the chef, lest they run out the main ingredient and come looking for me.
